Giving Tuesday

#Kindness Wins, donate to MACC Charities

Giving Tuesday is here, the biggest global celebration of generosity. Now more than ever, our vulnerable population needs your help. Whether you volunteer your time, give someone a positive compliment, donate gently used clothes or groceries, or gift a monetary donation to your favorite charitable organization, we hope you think of MACC Charities and give with all your heart!

The Gift Of Holiday Spirit

MACC's Elves are hard at work

The Community Threads Thrift Shoppe starts winding up for the Holiday season as soon as Halloween is over. Every year, First Church of Christ Congregational, Glastonbury, comes in for their Mission Immersion Day to volunteer in the Community Kitchen and the Community Threads Thrift Shoppe.

They play Christmas music, make sure our Christmas trees are assembled and working, and help prepare the meal for the day in the Community Kitchen. Thank you, First Church of Glastonbury, for your continued dedication and spreading the holiday spirit throughout MACC.

Saint Mark Glastonbury Thrivent Food Drive

MACC's Elves are hard at work

Although the frost ended the season for fresh garden vegetables, items that The Lutheran Church of Saint Mark of Glastonbury has continuously provided to the Community Emergency Food Pantry, they were able to collect 600+ nonperishable food items through Thrivent’s Feed the Northeast food drive.

We are thankful for their continued partnership in helping provide nutritious food to the families we serve.

MACC’s Reverse Advent Calendar is back! During this holiday season, collect one item each day of the month of December and donate it after the Holidays! Starting December 1st, compete with your family or work as a team to collect all 24 needed items on the list up until Christmas. Help support our families in need this winter.

A Fall Treat

Chef Ferdinand, MACC Community Kitchen

Peggy is at it again, folks. This must be her time of year because these delicious treats are absolutely amazing. These chocolate chip pumpkin cake cookies are a perfect treat to share with the guests at the Senior Center on a brisk fall day. Stay tuned for more of Peggy’s special holiday treats!

Final Winter Prep

MACC Pantry Manager

November has arrived, and we have started gathering and assembling the supplies needed to open and maintain the MACC Cold Weather Shelter for the 2023-2024 season starting in December. This year’s needs are greater than ever, and our shelter is already at pending capacity before we even open. We can still use new or slightly worn women’s boots size 7 – 9, men’s boots size 9 – 10.5, men’s and women’s heavy gloves, socks, hats, and winter coats. Please consider helping us provide basic necessities to make our residents in need safe and comfortable during these cold winter months to come. Click the button for our needs list.
