An excellent remedy to battle feeling depleted, isolated or bored, is to help others. I am refreshed every day I come to work because, regardless of how I think about what is going on globally, twenty plus people choose to show up to help my staff and me make things a little brighter for our part of the world. #ValuetheRefreshers

Encourage them to talk it out! There is not one way to being comfortable while having uncomfortable conversations. It takes a level of support, trust and respect to open up about yourself and/or your emergency situation. And when they open up, don’t judge. Nobody – including you – likes to feel judged. Ask open ended questions to engage and keep the conversation going.

MACC’s Community Kitchen
This week we were fortunate to receive a huge donation of freshly baked biscuits from Pastrami on Rye. I have a few tricks up my sleeve with this donation, the list of possibilities is endless. Maybe peach cobbler, strawberry shortcakes or even dipped in spicy honey butter. Stay tuned, I’ll be posting pics of delicious treats. Thanks again P.O.R! #Yum

The idiom; “Before you judge a man, walk a mile in his shoes” is a reminder to practice empathy. Each of us are fighting our own battles every day. For those I serve, it’s hard to understand that their present situation is not their final outcome in life. Services and programs are available to them. Call me, (860) 647-8003 ex. 15
