Welcome to the our weekly newsletter

The MACC Minute February 4, 2021.  We hope it will inspire you to get involved.

“Peanut butter jelly time, peanut butter jelly time” (Buckwheat Boyz) but what good is peanut butter without the jelly? Growing up, my all-time favorite lunch consisted of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, and a glass of milk. Currently we are experiencing a need for jelly or jam, grape being the preferable choice.  We are asking for all sizes or squeezable!

Two Sheroes and a Hero (Shannon Baldassario, Patti Thurlow and Mark Nadeau),  staff members of MACC, called out volunteers, personally  endured the extreme weather and treacherous driving conditions, to make sure people in need had food to eat this past Monday. Twenty-eight people showed up for lunch and meals were also delivered to the homeless housed at the motel.  #Wow&ThankYou!

Shannon Baldassario

Director of Services

It was so great to meet this Trio of growers. I received a call from Oxbow Farms in Canton, CT last week who wanted to donate 5- 40lb boxes of Fresh Produce. Sweet Potatoes, Acorn and Butternut Squash now fill our shelves so that we can provide for families in need this week. What are some of your favorite squash recipes?

Chef Ferdinand Cruz

MACC’s Community Kitchen

This week we have experienced quite a bit of snow and if the weathermen are correct, another snowstorm is on its way. These cold bitter days motivate me to cook warm “to go” meals for our guests. Our menu board this week consists of Coconut- Lime Curried Chicken accompanied by roasted Zucchini, Brussel Sprouts, Kale, Carrot and Quinoa salad.

Operations Manager

Happy Valentine’s Day!  February 14th’s coming up. Do you need a little something for your sweetheart? Community Threads Thrift is currently running a BOGO Valentine’s Day sale on books and jewelry (of equal or lesser value)! We have a whole table dedicated to Cupid’s Day along with many inexpensive household items and beautiful clothing. We are open Monday-Saturday 10:00am- 2:00pm.

Mark Nadeau

Outreach Case Worker

When we do good deeds for people, is it for our own benefit or to benefit others more? To take this one step further can our words speak louder than our actions. Outreach believes, it’s better to give than receive. Some see us as the shadows in the community reaching out to give a hand up to those in need.
