Welcome to the our weekly newsletter

The MACC Minute September 9, 2021.  We hope it will inspire you to get involved.

 News from our Food Pantry

The need is real!! MACC Pantry is in a NEED situation for puppy pads or absorbent bed pads. During the recent storms we have had water in our basement and the pads help to curtail the damage. We are almost out of our supply of pads. Please share this with your friends and families and help the Pantry remain damage free!

Be a carrier of good news, that is. Good news travels as fast as terrible news, with one exception; good news lifts the spirit, while awful news paralyzes the soul. We live in a great community with good organizations doing incredible work for others. Find your place and plugin. Getting involved with good work and sharing it is contagious. #BeACarrier

Don’t Blink! Before you know it September 30th will be here. Which means the end of the utility moratorium for shutoff protection. This will put a lot of households facing financial hardship, deeper in crisis mode. Customers are urged to call their utility companies to discuss options available to them before it’s too late! Be proactive, resources are available! #CallUs

Shout out to 8th District Fire Department for its end of the summer Annual Peach Festival. This beloved event not only provided the community with its celebration and fun, it overflowed when the EXTRAS were brought to us already peeled, cut & marinated. I was able to provide the community delicious treats! BIG thanks to our local volunteer firefighters!! #KindnessWins

The stories I hear are certainly page-turners and are essential. I have to develop strong relationships with people, listen carefully to the details of their experience, and be ready to direct them to resources that can help them move on to their next chapter. Anyone can learn techniques of engagement, but active listening comes from an interest in the storyteller.
