History/Mission

OUR MISSION:

Manchester Area Conference of Churches:
Mobilizing our community to break cycles of poverty.

OUR VISION:

MACC Charities, fulfilling our Christian faith, in collaboration with corporations, community partners and faith-based organization, will:

  • Provide emergency assistance for basic needs not met by other organizations
  • Empower individuals with skills necessary to break cycles of poverty
  • Enrich the lives of those we serve as well as our volunteers who serve
  • Offer information and referrals to resources and services available in the community

OUR FOUNDATION:

Matthew 25:35-40 (MSG)

“I was hungry and you fed me,
I was thirsty and you gave me a drink,
I was homeless and you gave me a room,
I was shivering and you gave me clothes,
I was sick and you stopped to visit,
I was in prison and you came to me.
Whenever you did one of these things
to someone overlooked or ignored,
that was me–
you did it to me.”

OUR HISTORY:

The MANCHESTER AREA CONFERENCE OF CHURCHES (MACC Charities) was founded in 1973 by 14 local churches in Manchester and Bolton with a simple conviction: when it comes to serving the basic unmet needs of our neighbors and breaking cycles of poverty in our community, we are better together.

After more than 43 years as a conference, we still believe that.

We serve the greater Manchester Area and currently have 40 member churches from Manchester, Bolton, South Windsor, Glastonbury and Storrs.

While our programs and strategies have evolved and changed over the years, our foundation and core commitment to mobilizing our community to break cycles of poverty has remained steady. As long as there is need, MACC will be here.
